Satisfy your craving for this iconic New York street food in your own home with our Halal Chicken Street Cart Bowl recipe. Made with Knorr Halal Chicken Flavored Seasoning to add another level of deliciousness to both the rice and the chicken for an amazing meal the whole family will love.
- To prepare rice:
- 1 1/2 cups parboiled basmati rice
- 3 cups water
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 2 tsp Knorr Halal Chicken Flavored Seasoning
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 3 tbsp frying oil or ghee
- To prepare chicken:
- 6 boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 2 tbspp Knorr Halal Chicken Flavored Seasoning
- 1/3 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tbsp Greek seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp black pepper
- To prepare sauce:
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp mustard powder
- 2 tbsp white vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1/4 tsp salt
Mix together the oil and seasonings in a pot on medium high heat.
Then add in the rice mixing well.
Add in the water. Let it come to a boil, cover and lower the heat to the lowest setting for 20 minutes.
Fluff the rice and serve!
Halal Chicken Street Cart Chicken:
Mix all the ingredients together and let marinate for at least 45 minutes covered in the refrigerator.
When ready to use, in a hot skillet, cook the thighs in a little olive oil. Turning every 2 minutes until the chicken is cooked thoroughly. About 15 mins.
Halal Chicken Street Cart Sauce:
Whisk everything together and either place in a squeeze bottle or a zipper bag and cut the corner for piping.
When you want to assemble your bowl, I like to add some lettuce, tomato and hot sauce with everything else.
