Beef steak marinated in a combination of traditional Filipino flavors for a dish that will make the childhood memories come flooding back. This authentic bistek recipe keeps things simple but hits all the right notes – it’s a family favorite for a reason!
- 1/4 cup Knorr® Liquid Seasoning
- 1/2 tsp ground pepper
- juice of 1/2 lemon (1/4 cup lemon juice) or calamansi
- 1 lb beef slices (preferably skirt or flank steak)
- cooking spray
- Sauce: 1/2 cup beef broth, 2 tbsp less sodium soy sauce, ground pepper, 1 large onion, peeled and cut into rings, slurry – 1 tbsp cornstarch and ¼ cup beef broth
Combine Knorr® Liquid Seasoning and lemon juice and rub this marinade into the beef. Set the beef to one side. Depending on personal preference, you can either fry or grill the slices.
Fry the onions and, once cooked, set aside.
Pour the leftover marinade into the broth and add soy sauce and ground pepper. Bring to a boil. If you want a thicker sauce, slowly whisk cornstarch into the sauce until desired thickness is achieved.
Once boiling, add the beef, onions and more lemon juice to taste.
Serve with steamed rice.
