Halal Oven Roasted Chicken Shawarma

Who doesn’t love chicken shawarma? This oven roasted version is made with Knorr Halal Chicken Flavored Seasoning for an incredibly tasty dish that’s sure to find a place into your weekly recipe rotation.

Ingredients
  • Marinade Ingredients:
  • 1 pound boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 tsp. Knorr Halal Chicken Flavored Seasoning
  • 3 crushed garlic cloves, or 1 tbsp. of garlic sauce (toum)
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil, or 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. sumac
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. ground clover
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • 1/4 tbsp. coriander
  • 2 onions quartered

 

  • Shawarma Roll Ingredients:
  • Pita bread or tortilla
  • Marinated chicken
  • Chopped lettuce
  • Pickled vegetables (beets and cornichons)
  • More garlic sauce (toum)
  • French fries

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the marinade spices listed, including the Knorr Halal Chicken Flavored Seasoning, olive oil and garlic mixture, salt and lemon juice.

Pat the chicken thighs dry and place in a large bowl with the quartered onions. Toss chicken well with the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or overnight.

Preheat the oven to 420F
Spread the chicken thighs, covered with the residual sauce, onto a greased or foiled sheet pan.

Bake for 30 minutes (flip half-way), or longer depending on your oven and tray.

Let sit out for a few minutes, then slice up the chicken!

To build your shawarma roll: set out pita bread, down the middle add the chicken, lettuce, pickled vegetables, garlic sauce, I like to also add French fries. Roll it up and enjoy!
Pro-tip: If you want your pita bread crispy, brush the outside with garlic sauce and broil for a few minutes!
